  11. for The World of Tattoo - Volume 1 Contemporary
  12. Tattoo program.

  38. 1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  39.

  41. 1.1. System
  42.  
  43. This program only works with Windows95, Windows98
  44. and WindowsNT.
  45.  
  46. QuickTime version 2.5 should be installed to enjoy
  47. the movies of the CD-ROM. They won't work if you
  48. only have installed a newer version of QuickTime
  49. (version 3.0 or higher). QuickTime 2.1.2 is
  50. included on this CD-ROM in a folder called
  51. "QuickTime". It can coexist next to a newer
  52. version of QuickTime. Elsewhere in this document
  53. you will find notes on the installation.

  56. 1.2. Screen
  57.  
  58. This program will work correctly in a number of
  59. screen formats and color depths. However, this
  60. program is best viewed on a screen format of
  61. 640x480 pixels with a minimal color depth of
  62. thousands of colors (16-bit color).

  64. To change the format of your screen, do the
  65. following:
  66.  - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar).
  67.  - Go to "Settings" and click on "Control Panel".
  68.  - Double click on "Display".
  69.  - Go to the tab "Settings" and change your
  70.    "Desktop area" to 640x480.
  71.  
  72. To change the color depth of your screen, do the
  73. following:
  74.  - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar).
  75.  - Go to "Settings" and click on "Control Panel".
  76.  - Double click on "Display".
  77.  - Go to the tab "Settings".
  78.  - Change "Color palette" to thousands of colors
  79.    (16-bit color) or higher to use "World of
  80.    Tattoo" to its full extent.

  83. 1.3. Sound
  84.  
  85. In order to make full use of the sound
  86. possibilities of the program you should have
  87. installed a Windows compatible soundcard. Please
  88. refer to the manual of your sound system for
  89. correct installation.

  92. 1.4. Memory (RAM)
  93.  
  94. The minimal amount of installed memory should be
  95. 16 MB RAM.

  98. 1.5. CD-ROM
  99.  
  100. This program is best viewed on a system with a
  101. quad (4x) speed or faster CD-ROM drive.
  102.  
  103. For best results, maximize the cache size of your
  104. CD-ROM drive. To do this, follow the following
  105. instructions:
  106.  - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar).
  107.  - Go to "Settings" and click on "System".
  108.  - Select the tab "Performance".
  109.  - Press the File System" button.
  110.  - Select the tab "CD-ROM".
  111.  - Slide the ruler to the far right.

  115. 2. INSTALLATION NOTES FOR QUICKTIME SYSTEM FILES

  117. QuickTime 2.1.2 is included on this CD-ROM in a
  118. folder called "quicktime". It can coexist next to
  119. a newer version of QuickTime.

  121. To install QuickTime with Explorer:
  122.  - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  123.  - Run the Explorer.
  124.  - Select the CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:).
  125.  - Go to the folder "quicktime".
  126.  - Double-click on the icon "Qt32inst".
  127.  - Follow the instructions of the program.
  128.  - QuickTime will install itself.

  130. To install QuickTime:
  131.  - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  132.  - Select "Run..." from the "Start" button.
  133.  - Type "d:\quicktime\Qt32inst.exe" at the prompt
  134.    and press Enter, where "d:" is your CD-ROM
  135.    drive (usually d: or e:).
  136.  - Follow the instructions of the program.
  137.  - QuickTime will install itself.

  141. 3. INSTALLATION NOTES FOR THE SCREENSAVER

  143. Screen saver "The Atomic Ladies".
  144.  
  145. To install the screen saver on your computer with
  146. Explorer:
  147.  - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  148.  - Run the Explorer.
  149.  - Go to the CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:).
  150.  - Double-click on the icon "Atomics".
  151.  - The screen saver will install itself.
  152.  
  153. To install the screen saver on your computer:
  154.  - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  155.  - Select "Run..." from the "Start" button.
  156.  - Type "d:\ atomics.exe" at the prompt and press
  157.    Enter, where "d:" is your CD-ROM drive
  158.    (usually d: or e:).
  159.  - The screen saver will install itself.

  161. To preview or change the preferences of the screen
  162. saver, follow this procedure:
  163.  - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar).
  164.  - Go to "Settings" and click on "Control Panel".
  165.  - Double click on "Display".
  166.  - Go to the tab "Screen Saver".
  167.  - If the screen saver "atomics.exe" isn't already
  168.    chosen, choose it from the menu. Click on
  169.    preview to watch it.

  173. 4. FUNCTIONALITY
  174.  
  175. To start the program with Explorer:
  176.  - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  177.  - Run the Explorer.
  178.  - Go to the CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:).
  179.  - Double-click on the icon "start".

  181. To start the program:
  182.  - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive.
  183.  - Select "Run..." from the "Start" button.
  184.  - Type "d:\start.exe" at the prompt and press
  185.  - Enter, where "d:" is your CD-ROM drive

  192. Using the World of Tattoo
  193. (This document is also available within the
  194.  program.)
  195.  
  196. After finishing the introduction (you can skip the
  197. introduction by clicking) you will enter the main
  198. menu. In the main menu, you have several options,
  199. which will highlight when you place your cursor
  200. over it.
  201.  - Select a (sub) category in the main menu by
  202.    clicking on it.
  203.  - Select a sound level at the above left corner
  204.    (one of the five graphic items; leftmost is no
  205.    sound)
  206.  - For on screen help, click on the crowned scull
  207.    at the bottom left corner.
  208.  
  209. Category screens
  210. In the category screens you have several new
  211. options, which will highlight when you place your
  212. cursor over them. When you move your cursor to the
  213. top or the bottom of the screen, you will find new
  214. options in the menu.
  215.  
  216. Automatic scrolling
  217. Place the cursor over the word "AUTO" on the top
  218. right of your screen. When the word "AUTO" is
  219. highlighted, all the pictures in the selected
  220. category will automatically pass. You do not have
  221. to click.
  222.  
  223. An alternative way of viewing the pictures is to
  224. move your mouse to the right or to the left of the
  225. screen. The cursor will change into an arrow
  226. pointing to the right or left. Then push the left
  227. mouse button and the next picture will be
  228. selected.

  230. The scroll bar
  231. At the bottom of the screen, you will find the
  232. thumbnail pictures. Move your mouse to the right
  233. or to the left of the scrollbar and you can scroll
  234. through the pictures. Select a picture by clicking
  235. on it.
  236.  
  237. Your selection
  238. It is possible to gather pictures from different
  239. categories and place them in your own selection at
  240. the top of your screen. This selection will be
  241. saved on your hard disk and will be accessible
  242. when you are using the World of Tattoo again.
  243.  
  244. Fast select
  245. In the bottom line of the screen, some categories
  246. have  fast select buttons for other (sub)
  247. categories.

  251. Buttons:

  253. Add            Adds any selected picture to your
  254.                selection
  255.  
  256. Print          Clicking the print option will
  257.                print any selected picture.
  258.  
  259. Erase          Removes any selected picture from
  260.                your selection
  261.  
  262. Noise level    Changes the sound level.
  263.  
  264. Main menu      Brings you back to the main menu.
  265.  
  266. Auto           Makes the category run
  267.                automatically.
